Conference Facilities and Hotels

This year’s conference will be held in the Trippenhuis, an historic building located at Kloveniersburgwal 29, in Amsterdam.  This unique facility, dating from 1660, housed The Night Watch, by Rembrandt, from 1817 to 1885.  It is currently headquarters for the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).  You can get additional information about  the facility at www.knaw.nl/organisation/history.html

Registrations and all academic sessions will take place at Trippenhuis, and all excursions will depart from that location.

Although we know that many people may prefer to make their own hotel arrangements, we have reserved special conference blocks at four local hotels, all within walking distance of Trippenhuis.  As you can see by reading the terms for booking these hotels, the reservations have a liberal cancellation policy.  However, you must book your room by April 27.  In order to register using the conference block, click here to get the appropriate forms.  These should be filled out and faxed or emailed to the appropriate number.  (Note:  You may be able to find better rates for these hotels, with less flexibility, elsewhere on the internet. There are also other hotels available in the area.)

Click here to see a map of the area, with the location of Trippenhuis as well as the four conference hotels indicated.

You may also check out the hotels by clicking on the following sites, though you should still register using the forms if you want the conference rate.

NH Doelen and NH Schiller: www.nh-hotels.com  and then click through to the hotel you want

Eden Rembrandt Square:  www.edenhotelgroup.com

Best Western Eden:  www.bestwestern.nl/eden  (This hotel is also run by the Eden group, but there doesn’t seem to be a photo tour on that site, while the Best Western site has pics.)
